Wi-Fi Calling allows customers to make and receive calls and texts (SMS & MMS) over a Wi-Fi (wireless internet) connection. Using Wi-Fi Calling is easy – customers won’t even know they’re making a
Wi-Fi call. Can any phone use Wi-Fi Calling? Any Apple iPhone 5C or newer is capable of using C Spire’s Wi-Fi calling.

Does Wi-Fi Calling go against a customer’s included minutes if they don’t have an unlimited calling plan?
No. These minutes are on the house. Talk all you want and never worry about using the voice minutes that are included in your plan.
It's simple. First connect to a Wi-Fi network. Go into settings. Go into Phone. Tap on Wi-Fi Calls. Slide the bar to allow Wi-Fi calls. Accept the terms and conditions. Make sure you've verified a valid 911 address for your physical address (a PO Box is not a valid 911 address). You are good to go.
Yes, you must connect to a Wi-Fi network before your phone will automatically connect to that same network when in range. Once you’ve connected, you’ll be automatically connected when Wi-Fi is turned on. We recommend you have Wi-Fi connected at all times.
Go to Settings and select Wi-Fi. A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear. Select a trusted network and enter a password to connect. After the first connection, the phone will automatically connect to that same network automatically when in range.
Once I activate Wi-Fi Calling, will my phone always use Wi-Fi for voice calls if I'm on a Wi-Fi network?
No. Not all Wi-Fi networks are created equal. Some may be substandard and provide a very poor quality experience. Therefore, your C Spire phone will automatically prefer the cellular network. However, if it determines that the Wi-Fi network you are on would provide a better calling experience than the available cellular network, it will use the Wi-Fi network. Remember, the network indicator in the upper left corner of your phone will display C Spire Wi-Fi when using Wi-Fi Calling or will continue to show C Spire for cellular calls.
Yes, when the device is in range of a reliable Wi-Fi network, Wi-Fi calls and cellular calls are similar in quality.
For Wi-Fi calling to work, a customer must meet the following technical requirements:
- Access to a Wi-Fi router with a high-speed internet connection
- An Apple iPhone 5C or newer with a Carrier version of at least 10.27.1 or higher
- A valid 911 address on file
Yes. As long as you are connected to Wi-Fi.
Yes. SMS and MMS are both supported.
If you get too far out of range of the Wi-Fi signal you will lose connection and your call will drop.
If you are traveling internationally and have an emergency, turn off Wi-Fi calling and use the mobile network. Calling 911 over Wi-Fi while travelling internationally won’t work.
